Often the first thing an eye is drawn to, area rugs are essential textiles for anchoring your furniture, creating conversation areas and warming up bare floors. A simple neutral area rug adds comfort and modern style, while contemporary area rugs in floral prints and abstract patterns make an artistic statement in your living room.

The most important thing to consider when choosing an area rug? Size. Bedroom area rugs should always extend beyond the sides of the bed by at least 18 inches, while living area rugs should extend out from under the coffee table and reach at least the first set of legs under your sofa or chairs. Dining room rugs should have space for chairs to be pulled out without catching on the edge of the rug. Available in dimensions ranging from 5x7 feet to 9x12 feet, our area rugs come in a variety of sizes to fit your room and the furniture in it. When in doubt or in between sizes, the larger area rug is usually the right choice.

Area rugs are a lot more than looks, though. Bold patterned rugs can make a small room feel larger. Or, if you have a bigger room where voices travel, a thick area rug can absorb excess sound. Using multiple small area rugs is also a great way to define certain areas in a large space with their own distinct styles.
